Laser Treatment

We are equipped with the most advanced lasers for the management of all the types of eye diseases.

1. Yag Laser Iridotomy for Glauacoma

Laser iridotomy is performed almost exclusively to treat or to prevent a certain type of glaucomacalled ‘narrow angle glaucoma.

It involves creating a tiny opening in the peripheral iris with laser, allowing aqueous fluid to flow from behind the iris directly to the anterior chamber of the eye thereby relieving the glaucoma.

2. Yag Laser Capsulotomy

Posterior capsular opacification develops few months to years after cataract surgery. Fortunately, a YAG laser can treat it safely, effectively and painlessly.

This procedure, known as YAG laser capsulotomy, removes the hazy posterior capsulefrom your line of sight without making an incision or "touching" the eye. Thus, instantly providing clear vision within few seconds.

General Procedure for Laser Capsulotomy and Iridotomy:

The treatment only takes a few minutes.

Your pupil may be made smaller or dilated depending on the type of laser being performed using eye drops. Some anaesthetic drops will be used in the eye.

The doctor then focuses the laser beam on the tissue and you will hear some clicks and beeps of the machine when the laser fires.

The procedure is not usually painful. Usually only a few shots are needed to make the opening. It is important to try to keep still during the procedure and to try not to move after the laser fires.

Post Laser

After the procedure, the doctor may prescribe you some eye drops and you are then free to go home. It is important not to drive to and from the hospital for this appointment because your vision may be slightly hazy post treatment.

3. Retinal Argon Laser

Retinal Argon Laser treatment is given for many different conditions in the eye/s such as vascular diseases, diabetes, retinal breaks and macular degenerations.

It is used to prevent leakage of fluid from blood vessels at the back of the eye (the retina) or to prevent the development of abnormal blood vessels in the eye.

5. Pan Retinal Laser Treatment

It is a type of laser treatment for the retina used in people who may or have developed new abnormal blood vessels in the retina or in the drainage system within the eyeball.

It is a mainstay of therapy for retinal ischemic disease. The procedure involves creating thermal burns in the peripheral retina leading to tissue coagulation, the overall consequence of which is improved retinal oxygenation thus reducing potentially devastating visual complications. The treatment takes longer than focal treatment because more laser shots are applied to the retina.

6. Prophylactic Barrage Laser

The Barrage Laser is an Argon Laser treatment which is performed to strengthen weakened areas of the retina. During routine eye check-ups, if the retina is suspected to be weak, it is treated to strengthen it so that serious eye problems such as retinal detachment can be avoided.

It is commonly performed in High myopic patients with retinal holes and tears or any patient willing to undergo LASIK with retinal degenerations like lattices. Also in cases with old peripheral retinal detachments not involving macula.
